Jack was a Dutch Shepard, around 5 years old, that was on the euthanasia list at a local shelter. He was a heart worm positive owner surrender and I met him when I went to evaluated a 17 year old dog for the sanctuary. The 17 year old did not work out but Jack was in the yard at the same time and the staff said he was shut down, not responding to anyone. However, he walked up to me as I was observing the other dog and stayed with me, letting me pet him, and followed me wherever I went. I knew he did not fit into the sanctuary but I felt a connection with him and asked the staff to contact me if he ever went on the euthanasia list. A couple of months later I got an email and off I went to get him! He could not be integrated with the rest of the dogs so he stayed in my quarantine area and he was the perfect guest! He never barked, soiled inside the house or chewed and was always happy to see me and go outside. He found his perfect forever home in Minnesota and is enjoying life with a family who LOVES him!!
Holly was a beautiful 10-year old that had been kept in a crate and bred her whole life. She was brought to a training facility to breed but she was severely underweight, at 35 pounds, and not in good enough shape to breed. She was of no use to them so we were contacted to take her in and get her healthy. She was not spayed and had to be fed small meals 4 times a day so she was kept separate from the other dogs. She was so sweet, had a fun and bubbly personality, loved running and chasing birds and loved attention! Even though she was 10 she had a lot of energy still and just didn't fit in with the rest of our old dogs! So, once she was healthy enough to be spayed (and after her heat cycle) she found a wonderful home in the northeast through a breed specific rescue. She now has a family who loves and appreciates her and 8 acres to explore!
